Press Release on Global Investors Meeting

The Debt Management Office (DMO) working with Citibank organised a virtual meeting between Nigeria’s economic managers (The Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning (FMFB&NP) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Institutional Investors across the continents of the world. The Meeting was held on June 23, 2020.

The Meeting was arranged to enable Nigeria present its economic plans, outlook, as well as, its response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Given Nigeria’s presence in the International Capital Market through USD10.87 million Eurobonds of various Tenors extending up to 30 years and a Diaspora Bond of USD300 Million, it is important to engage with foreign and local investors as information is key in the functioning of markets. In addition, foreign investors invest in Nigeria’s Equities and Debt Capital Markets including Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Bonds. Periodic interaction with Investors, particularly foreign investors is one of the tested strategies for building Investor confidence in a sovereign and maintaining demand in securities issued by the sovereign.
